SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

Job Description

Uganda Technology and Management University (UTAMU) is actively searching for an individual to serve as a Senior Accountant.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
• Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
• Maintain general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts; preparing a trial balance; reconciling entries.
• Oversee the preparation and production of payroll by initiating computer processing; printing checks, verifying finished product. Complete external audit by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts; providing information for auditors.
• Secure financial information by completing database backups.
• File accounts records and ensure that they can be easily retrieved whenever required and accessible to authorized persons only.
• Prepare schedules for accounts receivables and accounts payables and ensure that they are updated regularly.
• Participate in the preparation of the annual financial reports.
• Prepare monthly cash flows.
• Write books of accounts, process payments and keep up to date records of accounts in accordance with the UTAMU financial rules and regulations.
• Protect organization’s value by keeping information confidential.

Qualifications

• Professional certification(e.g. CPA, ACC)
• Postgraduate qualification is an added advantage.
• Bachelors degree in accounting, finance or in a relevant field.
• At least 5 years experience of work in a reputable organization.
