Job Description
Work Location: Hariss International Limited – Kampala, Uganda
Division / Department: Procurement and Logistics
Reports to: Logistics Manager
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensures the timely delivery of quality raw materials at the lowest possible cost:
- Follows up on production weekly plans and clearance within the planned schedule.
- Participates in the selection of suppliers based on a criterion
- Conducts a comparative analysis on supplier prices
- Reviews and evaluates the performance of the suppliers.
- Processes the necessary clearance documents, import permits, tax exemptions and licenses.
- Closely liaises with the clearing agents and internal declarants.
- Reviews and checks tax worksheets prior to lodging of entries.
- Performs marine insurance declarations.
- Verifies that the orders are within the agreed budget/approved contracts.
- Submits final invoices to the Finance and Accounts Department and follow up on payment.
- Coordinates inbound and outbound shipments with the different stakeholders.
- Monitors bonded warehouse operations, inventory and Ex warehousing.
- Post stock, vendor shipment information, costs in SAP efficiently.
- Analyze logistics data, prepare reports for management, and use insights to make informed decisions and track performance indicators.
- Liaise with suppliers, carriers, customers, and other internal departments to ensure smooth and timely operations.
- Track order fulfillment and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Performs any other Assignments imposed by Management.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a relevant discipline.
- A minimum of 3+ years’ experience in a similar role in a busy environment.
- The East Africa Customs and Freight Forwarding Practicing Certificate (EACFFPC) an added advantage.
Key Requirements:
- Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook)
- SAP experience and knowledge
- ASYCUDA ++ hands on experience, knowledge of the EACCMA 2004 and EAC Common External Tariff 2022.
- Excellent communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
