Job Title: BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Reports to: MANAGING DIRECTOR

Job Purpose

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for managing the Chint Uganda brands for improved inbound and outbound business opportunities and growth. The role deliverables will be towards increasing the reach and impact of the Chint Uganda profle and visibility through the delivery of high value and infiuential marketing and communications coupled with the organizations public relations activities

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Identifying and Pursuing New Business Opportunities:

  • Ensure that the Organization regularly conducts relevant market research and surveys on current and new products/services Monitor and analyze trends along with financial, technological, socio-economic and demographic factors and prepare market activity reports
  • Generate leads through networking, cold calling, attending events or online platforms.
  • Develop the organization’s corporate brand strategy with marketing tools and collateral for existing and new clients
  • Adopt a hands-on approach in monitoring the implementation and execution of marketing programs.
  • Participate fully in expansion programs in as far as identification of appropriate strategic locations and advising management of expansion opportunities.

2. Building and Maintaining Client Relationships

  • Establish and nurture strong relationships with existing and prospective clients
  • Act as a key point of contact to understand client requirements and provide tailored solutions.
  • Ensure high client satisfaction to encourage repeat business and referrals

3. Developing and Executing Growth Strategies

• Collaborate with sales, marketing and product teams to align business growth goals.

  • Create proposals, pitch decks and negotiate deals or contracts.
  • Track KPis, measure success of initiatives and adjust strategies based on performance

4. Expanding Sales channels and Market Reach

  • Identify and approach new B2B and B2C clients such as interior designers, real estate developers, hospitality chains and retail partners
  • Explore opportunities in emerging markets or underserved regions for both product lines.
  • Evaluate and develop relationships with online platforms, showrooms or distributors to boost product visibility and accessibility.

5. Building Strategic Partnerships

• Develop partnerships with architects, contractors and luxury home builders to integrate products into high end projects from the planning stage

• Collaborate with electrical contractors and smart home integrators to promote bundled solutions (eg lighting and furniture)

• Negotiate and manage contracts or collaborations with vendors, suppliers and exclusive resellers.

6. Aligning Product Offering with Market Demand

Analyze customer preferences, design trends and technological innovations in both furniture and electrical product sectors

  • Provide feedback to the product and marketing teams to ensure that the offerings meet evolving client expectations (eg energy efficient lighting or smart furniture)
  • Lead efforts to launch new products or seasonal collections, ensuring that they align with current market demand and design aesthetics.

7. Spearhead all Public Relations Activities

  • Spearhead both internal and external PR activities, working closely with the Customer Care designate to monitor and help resolve client queries where necessary, while managing perception and help continuously improve the company’s image.
  • Advise management on communication issues and conduct internal communication courses.
  • When called upon, arrange interviews with journalists, prepare and distribute news releases and make statements to the media when necessary

8. Head marketing and Business Development Department

Lead the marketing team, manage the budget, oversee campaigns across various channels, and align marketing efforts with the company’s objectives and sales efforts.

• Supervise and work closely with the digital team, brand managers, design, eCommerce, social media, copywriters and executives, to ensure all marketing campaigns are in alignment with the core brand message.

9. Submit timely monthly reports on all business development activity including recommendations for improvement on existing activities/ initiatives

Knowledge Qualifications and Experience Required

  •  Masters Degree in Marketing, Media, Communications or Journalism.
  • Chartered Institute of Marketing – CIM will be an added advantage
  • Bachelors Degree preferably in Marketing, Media, Communications or Journalism.
    Relevant minimum experience of 5 years in similar industry with preferable 2 years in senior position
  • A strategic and creative thinker with proven experience of working on diverse and wide ranging communication strategies including all forms of media
  • Have an excellent understanding of how to use marketing tools and techniques to increase the visibility, profile and reputation of an organisation
  • Have a good understanding of social media and the impact technology is having on communications and collaboration
  • Ability to develop and manage strong and complex relationships with multiple stake holders mainly clients and across countries
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
