Job Description
Applications are invited from suitably qualified Ugandans to fill the vacant position of Accountant at Urban Authorities Association of Uganda (UAAU).
Urban Authorities Association of Uganda (UAAU) is a NonGovernmental organization and an umbrella of all urban authorties in Uganda, whose main duty is to advocate for the interests of its members, aimed at achieving sustainable urban development in the country. We are located at Chorley crescent plot no 29 Luzira.
Applications should be submitted in triplicate to the Secretary General Urban Authorities Association of Uganda P.O.Box 23092 Kampala ‘to be received not later than 15th April 2025
Hand written applications with CVs should bear the Title of the post applied for and dropped in the box which will be placed at association office.
Applicants should attach three sets of certified copies of their full academic certificates, transcripts and slips, National Identifications and three recently certified passport size photographs.
Applicants who shall not hear from us on completion of shortlisting should consider themselves unsuccessful.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Verifying completeness of payment requisitions, justification and documentation of financial transactions
ii. Supervising periodic reconciliations of ledgers and cash books to accounts statement
iii. Making provisional returns to URA and advice on appropriate actions.
iv. Producing routine financial management information and, draft periodic financial statements and reports for management use
v. Preparing draft periodic statements and reports for compilation of Final Accounts
vi. Coordinating of draft responses to audit activities or queries and, oversight issues.
vii. Preparing requests for funding
viii. Overseeing day to day operations of accounts unit

A. ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION
I. An Honours Bachelor degree in Finance and Accounting OR Bachelor’s Degree with a Bias in Accounting
II. Full Professional qualification in Accountancy obtained from a recognized awarding body.
III. Registered member of the Institute of Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU)
B Working Experience
i) At least 2 years of working experience as an Accountant in Government or, an Equivalent level of Accounting work experience from reputable organization.
