Job Description

Kinua Foundation is a Uganda-based NGO committed to ending cycles of poverty, especially by empowering women to build sustainable livelihoods and create lasting change in their communities. We are looking for a passionate and creative Communications Associate to join our team and help amplify our impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Capture high quality photos and videos that tell powerful stories about our work.
  • Produce short documentaries, interviews, and social media video content.
  • Manage and grow the organisation’s social media platforms.
  • Draft engaging content for online campaigns, newsletters, and reports.
  • Support media relations, press engagements, and brand visibility activities.
  • Maintain a digital archive of media assets.
  • Support event documentation and communications planning.
  • Contribute to PR initiatives that build trust and visibility for Kinua Foundation.

Core Competencies

  • Strong storytelling ability across video, photo, and written formats.
  • Proficiency in videography and photography, including editing software.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Social media management expertise, including analytics and content strategy.
  • Creativity, attention to detail, and an eye for compelling visuals.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Commitment to gender equality and community empowerment.
  • Basic knowledge of branding and PR is an added advantage.

Qualifications

  • A diploma or degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Multimedia Production, or a related field.
  • At least 1–2 years of relevant experience in communications or media production.
  • Experience working with non governmental organisations(NGOs) and community based organisations(CBOs) is an added advantage.
  • The candidate should have a strong understanding of child protection principles, since our NGO works closely with children and prioritises their safety and well-being in all programmes and communications.
