Job Description

Reports to: Clinical Officer

Duration: 5 years (renewable upon Satisfactory performance

Limit: Below 35 vears

Salary Scale: U7

No. Required: 1

Job Purpose

To provide quality nursing services to patients and participate in implementing public health interventions in the community.

Key Outputs

  1. Patients received, registered and prepared for diagnosis;
  2.  Quality nursing care and treatment provided to patients;
  3. Proper records about the patients kept;
  4. Bedside nursing procedures carried out;
  5. Patients prepared for meals and served;
  6. A clean and healthy environment maintained;
  7. Staff supervised and appraised;
  8. Patients and their attendants sensitized; and
  9. Daily nursing care service activity reports compiled and submitted.

Key Functions

a) Receiving, registering and preparing patients for diagnosis;

b) Providing quality nursing care and treatment to patients;

c) Observing and keeping proper records about the patients;

d) Participating in Doctors/Clinical Officers Ward rounds;

e) Participating in bedside nursing procedures as a member of the caring team

f) Preparing patients for meals and participate in serving them;

g) Maintaining a clean and healthy environment for the patients;

h) Supervising and appraising Nursing Assistants and support staff;

i) Sensitizing patients and their attendants about basic health care practices; and

j) Compiling and submitting daily nursing care service activity reports.

Person Specifications

Qualifications

i. Must have Enrolled Nursing/ Midwifery Certificate from a recognized Institution.

ii. 2+ years of relevant experience

iii. Must be registered and licensed with the Nurses and Midwives Council.
