Oxfam Novib Uganda is looking for a Finance Support.

Duty station: Uganda

Type of appointment: Fixed-term Contract

Contract duration: 12 Months, With Possibility of renewal depending on budget and performance

Work schedule: Full-time 40 hours per week

Reports to: Accountant

Salary & Scale: F2

Start date: As soon as possible

CONTEXT

Oxfam in Uganda started work in the 1960s delivering development and humanitarian support as part of the Oxfam confederation, a global movement of people fighting to end inequality and injustice. Today, we continue to tackle the inequalities that make and keep people poor. We save and protect people’s lives in times of crisis. We work with people to build their resilience and rebuild their livelihoods. We enable vulnerable people’s voices to be heard and campaign for genuine, durable change.

OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide routine filing support.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supporting with routine project document retrievals and scanning for Projects, Denmark team, Country office and any other hosted teams/projects.
  • Supporting with the retrieval of documentation for various audits and needs.
  • Basic finance review of sampled documentation for audit.
  • Ensuring systematic hard copy filling of documentation.
  • Ensuring systematic labelling of hard copy files.
  • Stamping of documentation.
  • Soft copy scanning & filling of financial documents.
  • Ensuring systematic achieving and storage of hard copy documents.
  • Any additional roles assigned by supervisors.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Of course, you have Relevant academic qualifications in accounting, commerce, economics such BBA, BCOM, DBA, DCOM, DAF or related field. You have significant knowledge and experience and accounting and finance practises. You have proficiency in numeracy skills and experience in computer. Ability to prioritise work issues to meet deadlines with minimal supervision and adjust to constantly changing situations while maintaining focus on delivery and follow-through. You have good analytical and conceptual thinking skills with a proven proactive approach to identifying and resolving problems and suggesting improvements that continuously seek to provide a better service to Oxfam. You have excellent personal communication skills, in written and verbal English. You have a high level of self-awareness, personal energy, stamina and flexibility. Ability to work creatively, effectively and under own initiative. You pay attention to detail. You have good interpersonal skills and ability to relate well with co-workers and other stake holders. Commitment to Oxfam’s overall aims and policies and experience of promoting interests of marginalized people in all aspects of Oxfam’s work.
