About the Role

KinderKare Preschool, located in the heart of Kansanga, Kampala, is a premier early childhood education center dedicated to nurturing young minds and fostering a love for learning.

We are seeking an experienced, passionate, and dedicated Head Teacher to lead our school in fostering a nurturing and dynamic learning environment for our young learners. As Head Teacher, you will oversee curriculum implementation, support and guide staff, and ensure a high standard of education and care that aligns with the values and goals of KinderKare Preschool. This position is integral to our school community, shaping not only the academic experience of our students but also contributing to the positive culture of KinderKare.

Success in the Role

Success in this position involves creating an engaging and supportive learning environment, maintaining high standards of preschool education, and fostering an inclusive culture where children feel valued and supported in their developmental journey. You will be instrumental in developing collaborative relationships with teachers, families, and the wider community to ensure that every child’s individual needs are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Leadership: Lead the implementation of an age-appropriate curriculum aligned with best practices in early childhood education, ensuring activities promote creativity, cognitive growth, and social skills.
  • Staff Development and Support: Mentor and support teaching staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and professional development. Conduct regular staff evaluations and provide feedback for growth.
  • Family Engagement: Actively engage with families, providing regular updates on student progress, addressing concerns, and creating opportunities for parents to be involved in their child’s education.
  • School Management: Oversee day-to-day operations, including scheduling, resource allocation, and administrative tasks to ensure the school runs smoothly and efficiently.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure that all health, safety, and sanitation standards are met, creating a safe and secure environment for children, staff, and visitors.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field, with a focus on early childhood education preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in school management, preferably within a preschool or early childhood education setting.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with a collaborative approach to team management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with staff, families, and community members.
  • A proactive, solution-focused mindset, with the ability to foster a positive, supportive learning environment.
