Job Description

Job Title: Human Resource Officer
Department: Human Resource & Administration
Reports to: Senior Human Resource Officer

Job purpose
Responsible for the effective delivery of HR services across the business, resolution of employee inquiries, industrial relations, keeping the HRIS database up to date, and providing payroll support services.

Key Result Areas
– Maintain the HRIS: keeping the HRIS database up to date with changes in employee information or organization rules. This involves creating accounts for new hires and modifying data during common situations such as employee promotions or terminations, salary changes, and new tax rates.
– Responsible for the clean-up of existing employee data, updating, maintaining and processing of data for uploading and regularly conduct system audits to guarantee data integrity.
– Generate Reports and Dashboards: Will be in charge of creation and generation of system-based reports on key metrics such as demographics and turnover rate.
– Prepare staff payroll order forms to effect changes on payroll e.g. transfers, changes in salary, changes in bank accounts, deletions, promotions, etc.

– Handle employee inquiries and concerns regarding HR policies, benefits, payroll, and other related matters, providing timely and effective resolution·
– Assist with employee relations activities, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and grievance procedures, while promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.
– Maintain employee records (attendance, leave  data, staff lists, etc.) per policy and legal requirements.
– Coordinate HR budget performance and track HR cost center utilization.
– Custodian of HR information and records management to always drive confidentiality and departmental security.
– Generate HR reports and information dissemination through frequent communication with key stakeholders.

Person specifications, Education, and Competencies required for the Job
– Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Organizational and social psychology, Business Administration, Social Sciences or any other related field.
– Should have at least 3 years working experience in human resource
– Must demonstrate significant knowledge and experience handling activities of the Human Resource function.
– Working knowledge of and experience in local labor and employment laws and legal resources.
– Ability to analyze and interpret numerical data and processes
– Ability to maintain the highest degree of discretion and confidentiality of HR information.
– Experience using Human Resource Management System.
– Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
– A person who is highly motivated and innovative.
– Membership to the Human Resource Managers Association of Uganda is an added advantage
