Position Title: IT Support Officer (General Elections 2026)
Number of Positions: 183
Duty Stations: District Electoral Commission Offices, Divisions, Regions and Headquarters
Reports to: District Returning Officer / Head of IT Department
1. Job Purpose
To provide technical IT support during the General Elections, ensuring smooth operations of election systems at tally centers, polling stations, and election management systems (ERTDS and BVVS). The officer will also be involved in training of tally clerks and BVVK operators.
2. Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Providing technical support for election technology systems, including the Biometric Voter Verification System (BVVS) at polling stations.
- Offering on-site IT support at District Tally Centers, Divisions, and Regional Offices to ensure proper system functioning.
- Supporting the Electronic Results Transmission and Dissemination System (ERTDS) at tally centers.
- Providing support at Headquarters and the National Tally Center (NTC) for configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Installing, configuring, and maintaining election IT equipment, including servers, laptops, tablets, routers, and other network devices.
- Ensuring secure setup and functioning of polling day ICT infrastructure.
- Training Tally Clerks and BVVK Operators on the use of election IT systems to ensure smooth results entry, verification, and transmission.
- Troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues promptly to avoid disruption of election activities.
- Assisting in testing, training, and simulation exercises before polling day.
- Documenting incidents and providing technical reports to supervisors.
- Performing any other duties assigned by supervisors in relation to IT and election systems.
3. Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (Hons) in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Computing or related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in IT support, Systems Administration, or troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience with networks, databases, and ICT hardware/software support.
- Knowledge of election technology systems (such as BVVS or results transmission systems) will be an added advantage.
- Experience in training or capacity building is desirable.
- Must be willing to be deployed in any district of the country.

5. Duration of Engagement
The deployment shall be for a period of six (6) months. The engagement shall cover the pre-election, election day, and post-election period, with exact timelines determined by the Electoral Commission.
Mode of application:
Applications with comprehensively typed CVs showing the applicant’s contact address with day time telephone numbers, addresses and day time telephone numbers of three referees, copies of certified academic transcripts and certificates plus a copy of National Identification Card should be sent to the Central Registry addressed to the Head, Human Resources Management as indicated below, not later than 25th Sept, 2025.
