Job title: Logistics Manager

Work Location: Hariss International Limited – Kampala, Uganda

Division / Department: Procurement and Logistics

Reports to: Head of Procurement & Logistics 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Ensures the timely delivery of quality raw materials at the lowest price possible
  • Conducts a comparative analysis on supplier prices.
  • Processes the necessary clearance documents.
  • Closely liaises with the clearing agents.
  • Verifies quantifications of orders
  • Ensure effective lines of communication to ensure timely delivery of commodities using the most appropriate Logistics procedures.
  • Ensure full compliance with the company procurement & Logistics policies and procedures.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual plans and progress reports as required.
  • Prepare service delivery contracts, leases, and purchase orders for all acquisition needs.
  • Maintain Logistics files including all relevant documentation and shipment tracking system.
  • Maintain all the relevant information concerning the company’s suppliers.
  • Performs any other Assignments imposed by Management.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: 

  • B.A. required/Masters preferred or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience. Professional certification and membership to a reputable procurement and supplies body is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of SAP and any other related procurement package.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role in a busy environment.

Key Requirements: 

  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Excellent communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
