Position Function
Implement and monitor financial management activities within the framework of Uganda Post Limited and ensure all policies and procedures, government regulations, accounting standards, and local laws are complied with in line with UPL goals and objectives.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage and monitor cash flows and the liquidity position of the organization to ensure UPL meets its financial obligations in line with approved guidelines and policies.
- Prepare Annual Work Plans and Budgets for the Department and guide implementation of planned activities in line with UPL’s Business Plans and Policies.
- Contribute to the income-generating and sustainability initiatives of Posta Uganda (UPL).
- Check and approve all payment requests (within approval limits) to ensure adequate supporting documentation, in a defined area of work for ease of reference and retrieval.
- Review and analyze accounts/balances relating to the general ledger control account and reconciliations of subsidiary schedules ensuring accuracy and prompt processing as per UPL guidelines.
- Prepare and submit periodic financial reports, schedules and tables in line with UPL and statutory requirements to the Head of Finance on time for review, submission and presentation.
- Consolidate annual cash flows for review to the Head of Function (HoF) and track and monitor fund availability in all bank accounts.
- Review and submit to the Head of Function payroll for review and approval.
- Check all transactions for correct coding, post into the system and review reconciliations of subsidiary schedules/records, sundry suspense debtors, and creditors accounts and ensure no amounts are held unresolved for undue periods of time.
- Prepare and attend to the needs of internal and external auditors and implement recommendations in line with UPL’s Strategic Plan and guidelines.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
Qualifications:
- An Honors Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Business Administration (Accounting Option) from a recognized University.
- Membership in a reputable Professional Accountancy body such as ACCA, CIMA or CPA
Experience:
1. Six (06) years’ experience in accounting or finance at least four (04) of which should have been at the Accountant or Supervisory Level in a reputable
organization.
