 Job Summary:   We are seeking to recruit a Part-time Dental Officer to deliver quality and efficient dental services to meet the needs of Watoto Mothers and children in Watoto ministries.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To provide guidance to the assigned dental unit in Laminadera Children’s Village with department protocols and policies.
  • To monitor drug reactions, and progression and provide appropriate management including referral of complicated dental cases.
  • To execute standard dental examinations, evaluations, and screenings to identify oral health concerns.
  • To participate in all oral health promotion programmes that include oral health education, surveys, and research as organised by Watoto Medical Department.
  • To participate and monitor the development of dental standards, practice protocols, operating procedures, and adherence to compliance at the dental clinic level.
  • To participate in strategic planning for the dental clinic in accordance with the department protocols and policies.
  • To identify and cultivate partnerships with government agencies, non-profit organizations, academic institutions, and private sector entities to resource the dental unit.
  • To provide evidence-based oral care to the clients.
  • To maintain accurate reporting records in accordance with Ministry of Health guidelines.
  • To supervise dental assistants and volunteers, ensuring the highest quality of service delivery.
  • To support the teaching and training of staff in other departments on various aspects of oral health as organised by the Watoto Medical department.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant for the dental officer role should hold a minimum of a Diploma in public health Dentistry or equivalent from a recognised accredited institution.
  • Must have a valid practising license from the Allied Health Professionals Council.
  • At least two years’ experience, preferably in paediatric settings.
  • Strong knowledge of preventive dental care, oral health education, and minor dental procedures.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to relate well to children of all ages
  • Passionate about community oral health care with the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
