Job Description

General Summary

The EXPrESSIVE-10 trial is a phase 3 clinical study assessing the safety and efficacy of MK-8527, an investigational once-monthly oral PrEP medication for adolescent girls and young women at five sites in Uganda: Entebbe, Kalangala, Kampala, Masaka, and Mityana. 

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide friendly and welcoming customer service.
  2. Have excellent communication skills, coupled with empathy, patience, and the ability to turn a complaint or negative phone call into a positive experience.
  3. Participant registration; welcoming participants, verifying participant identity and their appointment cards.
  4. Handling phone calls: Answering queries, directing calls and taking messages.
  5. Data entry: Accurately entering participant information.
  6. Participant communication: Providing information and responding to queries, as well as referring participants to the relevant areas where they can get further help.
  7. Provide refreshments to participants and make sure they are comfortable.
  8. Provide games and entertainment tools to participants and their children as they wait to be attended to.
  9. Maintain a clean and conducive environment for the participants and their children.
  10. Requisition for participant reimbursement, reimburse participants and account for their reimbursement.
  11. Control participant clinic flow to ensure that participants are worked on time, avoiding delays on site.
  12. Monitor and provide care for the participants’ children.
  13. Maintain full custody of all participant entertainment tools, children’s toys, and any other items in their custody.
  14. Direct study participants and other visitors to the relevant offices in the clinic.
  15. Link pregnant and breastfeeding participants to antenatal and postnatal care at Kalangala Health Centre IV.
  16. Any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Academic Qualifications

  • Diploma in Comprehensive nursing
  • Nursing registration certificate with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council

Person Specification

Computer literate

Have excellent communication skills, coupled with empathy, patience, and the ability to turn a complaint or negative phone call into a positive experience

Good coomuication and interpersonal skiils

Ability to work in teams

Outgoing and willing to work extra hours

Preferably female

Should be a resident of Kalangala
