School Sports Coach (Nakaseke Christian Schools)

Job Description

Reports to: Head Teacher Location: Nakaseke, Uganda Position Type: Full-time Start date: May 2025 Summary:

As a sports coach, your role is to help school going athletes of all ages and abilities to reach their sporting potential. You should be positive, enthusiastic, supportive and trusting and with excellent leadership skills.

Key Outputs (Duties and Responsibilities)

• Performance Analysis:
• Assess individual and team strength and weakness, analyze game strategies and adapt training plans accordingly, give assistance, guidance, for each participant by presence at all practices, games and while travelling.
• Give constant attention to student athlete’s grades and conduct.

·       Schedules and logistics:

• Work with administrators to develop schedules, schedule practices and contests, confirming transportation.
• Do necessary preparations to hold scheduled sport events, practice in scheduled facility times.
• Arrange for facilities, equipment and travel for events and games.
• Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of equipment, marking and identifying all equipment before issuing or storing. Instill in each player respect for equipment, school property, care and proper use.

·       Professional standards:

• Create documentation to fulfill requirements concerning physical examination, parental consent and eligibility.
• To build and maintain successful relationships with pupils, treat them consistently with respect and consideration and be concerned of their development as learners.
• To provide instruction that will lead to the formulation of moral values, pride of accomplishments, acceptable and social behavior, self discipline and self acceptance.
• Create an inclusive environment that promotes sportsmanship and opportunity for growth (both spiritually and academically) and school pride.
• Initiate programs and policies concerning injuries, medical attention and emergencies.
• Participate in the budget process and operate within the budget appropriations.
• Have thorough knowledge of all athletic policies approved by the ministry of education, responsible for its implementation and programs.
• To liaise with outside teams in relation to sporting events.
• To support the school in promoting sports, ensure all student-athletes attend required athletic games.

Minimum academic qualifications:

• Sports Science degree preferred but not required, further professional qualification will be an added Advantage.
• Relevant coaching experience

Experience:

• 2 years minimum experience as a coach in a student centered environment.
