Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:
To ensure the reliability, security, and efficiency of our IT infrastructure and databases. This role is crucial in maintaining optimal system performance, safeguarding data integrity, and supporting our teams by resolving technical issues promptly. By excelling in this role, the administrator will help Interswitch deliver innovative financial services and maintain compliance with industry standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
System Administration:

  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, software, and hardware.
  •  Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal operation.
  • Implement and manage security measures to protect systems from unauthorized access and cyber threats.
  • Perform regular system backups and ensure data recovery processes are in place.

Database Administration:

  • Design, install, and maintain database systems (e.g., SQL, Oracle, MySQL).
  • Set up high performing and available cluster services for the database environment.
  • Monitor database performance and optimize queries for efficiency.
  • Ensure data integrity and security by implementing access controls and encryption.
  • Perform regular database backups and recovery operations.

Infrastructure Management:

  • Manage server infrastructure, including cloud-based and on-premises environments.
  • Oversee network configuration, including firewalls, routers, and switches within the servers and database applications.
  • Collaborate with the development team to deploy and manage application servers.

Compliance and Documentation:

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of systems and database configurations.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for system and database administration.

Support and Troubleshooting:

  • Provide technical support to internal teams.
  • Resolve system and database-related issues promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with vendors and external partners to resolve complex technical issues

EDUCATION

  • Minimum Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in IT, computer science or related
  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database
  • Administrator Associate, Oracle Database Administrator
  • Certified Professional, or similar.
  • DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins).
  • Strong knowledge of database management systems (e.g., SQL, Oracle, MySQL) and operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)

EXPERIENCE:
At least 4-5 years of experience in related field
