Job Summary:
The Tax & Consulting Trainee will assist the Tax & Consulting team in delivering a variety of services related to tax compliance, business consulting, and financial advisory for clients.
This is an entry-level position ideal for recent graduates or individuals seeking to start a career in both tax and consulting, offering the opportunity to develop a broad range of skills across tax planning, tax compliance, business strategy, and client management. The role provides exposure to diverse industries and projects, enabling the trainee to gain valuable hands-on experience in both fields.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tax Compliance & Advisory Support:
- Assist in preparing tax returns for individuals, businesses, and organizations, ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.
- Help prepare and review tax-related documentation, including supporting schedules and financial statements.
- Conduct research on various tax issues, including corporate tax, VAT, transfer pricing, and international tax matters.
- Support the preparation of tax calculations and forecasts for clients.
- Help identify tax planning opportunities and assist in the development of tax-efficient strategies.
2. Business Consulting Support:
- Assist in the delivery of business consulting services, including strategy development,
- Conduct market and industry research to support client solutions, including competitor analysis and benchmarking studies.
- Help analyse business processes and contribute to improving operational efficiency.
- Assist in preparing presentations and reports for client meetings, summarizing key findingsand recommendations.
3. Data Analysis & Reporting:
- Use data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI) to compile and analyse tax-related and business performance data.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports, tax filings, and other key documents.
- Help monitor and track deadlines to ensure timely delivery of tax filings and client reports.
4. Learning & Development:
- Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance your technical skills in tax,business consulting, and project management.
- Continuously expand knowledge in relevant tax regulations, accounting principles, and business consulting methodologies.
- Shadow senior consultants and tax professionals to learn best practices and gain practical experience.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Actuarial Science, Engineering, and IT or a related field.
- Professional Qualification: This will be an added advantage for a candidate pursuing CPA, ACCA, CFA, CISA, or any other relevant certification.
- Experience: At least one (1) of work experience in auditing, accounting, or finance and IT is an added advantage.
Skills:
- Proficiency in cloud-based systems, Accounting, Statutory Remittance, and Payroll.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
